Silent Design

How silent can convincing design be? hyperraum member Christian gathered views on that with the new issue of ›Neuwerk‹.

Almost nothing than a blanked out play button is on the cover of the new issue of ›Neuwerk‹, a magazine for design theory. But this is just one answer to the question the desk raised to their authors: Faced with the problem of increasing information overflow, should communication strategies become even faster, bigger and louder or subtle, reduced and quiet?

The days of loud design are numbered. The ›information overflow‹ is followed by filter systems and attention is rather gained by relevance than by volume.

  • Volker Tolle, ›Vom Ende der Täuschung‹, Neuwerk 4 ›Stille‹

Not one, but two hyperraum members have an answer to that. Co-publisher Christian writes on the honest product language of ›Binder Clips‹ and has a try on ›Figuring Silence‹ with a series of illustrations. Our co-founder Volker deals with ›The End of Deception‹ in his prospect of the change of media and its influence on design.

Neuwerk 4 can be ordered on amazon or directly at form+zweck publishing house.
